About

My name is Mike Curto, I am the Tacoma Rainiers radio announcer, and this is my blog.

I have been the “Voice of the Rainiers” since the 1999 season. I go on all of the road trips and travel with the team, calling each game on South Sound Sports 850 am. I also cover over half of the away games for The News Tribune. And starting now, I will blog the season as well.

This blog will feature a mix of series previews, game analysis, prospect reports, the latest team news, life on the road entries, and other baseball discussion. Really, whatever pops into my head that is Rainiers-related will go here.

Hopefully this blog will be either interesting, informative, or entertaining. In baseball 1-for-3 is great, so I just need to hit one of those to feel good.

Thanks for the blog. Will you be offering an RSS feed in the future?

This is awesome; it’ll be great to hear about future Mariners before they’re big leaguers.

  3. Hey Mike,

Glad to see you starting the blog. I wish I could catch your broadcasts down here in the Bay Area. I still hope to make it up to a Sacramento game some time, where I can hopefully watch you work and remember the good ol’ KALX days.

    Mike, great pbp tonight.
Is there any chance that Bob-Rob will share some time on the air with you this year? Have you heard anything on LIVE tv games yet?

    Hey Mike,
I enjoy your blog very much. You’re posts are interesting, especially your telling of the ‘life on the road’. The massive player movement our Mariners are doing this season has really drawn me to keep an
eye out on all of the players. You really do a great job, with candor and respect.
I do appreaciate the blog,( and the Ranier broadcasts)

    Hi, Mike…
You have a great website here. I can tell you are a real pro. I loved my two years in Tacoma and I know you do, too…one of the best cities I have ever lived in with lifelong friends like Stan Opdyke.
Keep up your very professional work…nice job.

Love your blog; I have it bookmarked. It’s nice to be able to keep up with Rainiers happenings during the long winter months. I also want to say thanks for the wonderful chat we had during the Cheney open house earlier this year (I was one of the last to visit the home clubhouse). Looking forward to seeing some games at the new Cheney next season; it will be exciting! (I still think they need to consider backing up left-center field about 20-30 feet; 350 feet I think is too short for a fence that will be only 8 feet high!) Oh yes; love the audio clip of the final out in Game #3 of the championship. I play it nearly every time I visit the team website. Puts a big smile on my face. I hope it won’t be another 41 years before we win another title. Keep up the good work!

Nice blog, I would call it a insider blog since I don’t see the Rainiers being in the news a media unless it is a major news such as the new ownership
