Lawrence Throws Strike After Strike

Casey Lawrence has one of the better displays of strike throwing you’ll ever see while pitching the Rainiers to a 9-0 win on Monday night.

Lawrence pitched a complete game, 95-pitch shutout. Amazingly, 77 of the 95 pitches were strikes – only 18 were balls.

It took Lawrence until the seventh inning before he threw his tenth pitch outside of the strike zone. Through seven frames, he had thrown just 62 pitches (52 strikes).

He allowed eight hits, but got some help. His defense turned two double plays behind him, and centerfielder Leonys Martin threw out a runner at home plate in the top of the sixth inning.

It was a gem of a performance, in front of the big July 3rd crowd.
