From The Airport

It’s a travel day for the Rainiers, and the Colorado Springs trip is never an easy one – the team flies in and out of Denver, and takes a 90-minute bus ride to Colorado Springs, so it turns into a long one.

Thus, after the Rainiers thrilling 6-5 win over the Sky Sox last night, I have only a brief update for you (I’m typing this at a restaurant in the Denver airport).

Read all about last night’s game right here.

Tacoma won the road trip, 5-3, and took three of four from the Sky Sox. Tacoma is 34-22, best record in the PCL, and has a 1.5 game lead over Colorado Spring in the division.

Tonight the Rainiers open an eight-game homestand with a 7:05 game against the Sacramento River Cats. Tacoma starts LHP James Paxton (2-4, 5.01) against Sacramento LHP Andrew Werner (4-7, 5.82). The broadcast airs on South Sound Sports 850 AM and streams online right here.

Sorry, no time for a Sacramento preview – let’s just go with, “they’re good, as always.”
