Mike Wilson Joins Rainiers

Outfielder Mike Wilson has been promoted to the Rainiers, and he is in the lineup today.

Wilson finished the 2009 season with Tacoma and was with the team during the playoffs. Wilson opened this season at Class-AA West Tennessee, where he hit .292 with 8 home runs and 22 RBI while posting a .402 on-base percentage.

The Rainiers have taken Matt Tuiasosopo off the roster, and I have heard that he is not currently in Nashville. A rather grumpy Daren Brown didn’t want to talk about it, just saying “he’s not here.”

Also of note, former UW catcher Ben Johnson is starting for Nashville this morning. First pitch at 9:05 am!

Mike, what is your speculation about the Tui news? Any rumblings that he’s been called to the Big Club (and for whom?), or has he been dinged up or could there be some other explanation for removing him from the roster – and Nashville? Perhaps he strained a shoulder swimming through the streets?

Seattle Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik announced the following roster moves:

    – SS Jack Wilson placed on 15-day Disabled List (retro to May 6) with a right hamstring strain
    – INF/OF Matt Tuiasosopo recalled from AAA Tacoma

    Tui Nation Rejoices!!!

And please, no jokes about Nashville. Total devastation, billions of dollars, lives lost.

I know it’s not a 3rd world island country, but the lack of publicity and concern over this disaster is embarrassing.

I wouldn’t knock Nashville – I like coming here. The Nashville-Memphis swing is one of the best road trips in the PCL. I was concerned about the flood and was happy to hear that my friend who lives here wasn’t effected. We’re heading out tonight so perhaps I’ll see some of the damaged areas.

No, I know you weren’t Mike. I was referring to the other poster.

My father lives north of the city in Springfield. Fortunately he was good as well up there, but he said the water in Nashville was just incredible.

    Back to baseball…

Do you think if Tui shows well he’ll stick around for good this time or is this simply just until Jack is back?

Big Tui fan from his Timber Rattler days over here in NE Wisconsin. Oh that magical 2005 season (our last winning one…)

    Thanks!

  5. Michael says:

Tui is most likely going to be send back down when Jack comes off DL due to he got option left and Josh Wilson I believe doesn’t and would risk claiming on waivers and fact that Jack and Don Want Tui to play everyday make sense for him to go to Tacoma.

  6. THE KID (not that one) says:

I was afraid you’d say that… As a Tui fan i’d love to see him up (especially for the series at the end of June at Miller Park!) but if there’s not a spot in the lineup for him every day, you’re right, better off at Tacoma.

    Thanks!

    • Michael says:

That what I think could happen and most likely could happen as I believe Josh Wilson has no option left and Seattle Mariners would risk losing him and he doesn’t have to play everyday like Tui.
